Molly FaithfullThe inspiration for my work comes, initially, from film. I am fascinated by how cinematography is able to draw you into the story, curating the mood, silently expressing emotions and plot points, even representing necessary information such as location, time period and season. I have studied cinematic techniques and how they can translate into photography, considering how I can create a narrative from a single image. The resulting work takes mundane locations and reframes them as the setting
for the scene I have created, using light, colour and composition to create an overarching atmosphere. The images are designed to feel as if the subject is not aware of the camera; we as viewers are the observers, passively spectating on a frozen moment.
